3 Reasons Why Spring 2020 May Be The Start
;tldr 2020 may be a very important year in Bible prophecy. We may be on the verge of the 1st seal of Revelation being opened.
On March 20th, 1971 an article was published in the New York Times, written by then-mayor of Jerusalem, Teddy Kollek, entitled They Shall Build in Jerusalem.
Why is this important? It may have been a partial fulfillment of an ancient prophecy recorded in Daniel 9:25:
The article mentions both restoring parts of Jerusalem and building in Jerusalem. And the timing is interesting. It was published 49 years ago this month. The phrase "seven weeks" in the verse above is commonly interpreted as seven weeks of years, or 49 years. At the end of which the world would experience either THE Messiah, Jesus (Yahushua) again, in some fashion, or, taken more generally according to the Hebrew words "mashiyach nagiyd," some significant anointed leader would enter the scene.
The word mashiyach is often used in the Bible to describe the special person God has set apart and is using to perform his will. For example, in the Old Testament, every king of Israel was mashiyach, or anointed. When we understand, according to books like Malachi, Isaiah, Matthew, Zechariah, Revelation and so on, that some end-time prophet will be sent by God to prepare the way for Christ's return "before the coming of the great and dreadful day of the LORD," we see this anointed prince could very well be referring to the person Malachi refers to as Elijah.
Furthermore, when we consider that the rider on the white horse in Revelation 6, the man with a crown, going out conquering and to conquer, may very well be Elijah, it fits perfectly with all prophecies about God's end-time prophet who arrives on the scene at the beginning of Tribulation. The first seal of Revelation is, in my view, God's prophet going out to clear a righteous path for the return of our Savior.
In Quenched Like a Wick, I stated that the 49 years started at the Six Day War. We now know this to be incorrect. The word "command" in Daniel 9:25 is not a great translation. The Hebrew word is "dabar." Perhaps this dabar (speech, discourse) by Mr. Kollek was the beginning of the fulfillment of the 49 years. Time will tell.
Jeremiah 25 and 29 predict a period of time, lasting 70 years, in which the great nation-state referred to as Babylon effectively rules the world by her great might. All nations of the world will serve her.
When we understand that end-time Babylon is America, our next question becomes "when did her 70 year reign begin?" In Quenched Like a Wick I concluded it had begun shortly after World War II. We now know this to be incorrect. But could it have something to do with the formation of NATO in the late 40's and early 50's?
I find it interesting the passage above from Jeremiah 25 specifically refers to servitude to the king of Babylon, or by extension, the nation. Regarding the command structure of NATO, the Supreme Allied Commander reports to the President of America, who is the Commander in Chief.
In December of 1950 General Dwight D. (Ike) Eisenhower was named Supreme Allied Commander Europe of NATO. On April 2, 1951, General Eisenhower officially assumed the office of Supreme Allied Commander, the first occupant of that office, and of course, reporting to then president, and Commander in Chief, Harry S. Truman.
If April 2, 1951 acts as some generic starting point of the 70 years, it counts down to spring of 2021, essentially one year removed from where we are at this point in time.
This is important because IF the first seal of Revelation is opened this spring, that gives us until spring of 2021 until we experience the opening of the 6th seal and the destruction of Babylon.
Could the first five seals be opened in a single year, and would that be the amount of time Elijah needs to do his work before the 6th seal, which many, myself included, consider to be the great and terrible day of the Lord? Perhaps this is why several commentators have interpreted Isaiah 32:10 as indicating about a year in length.
I am, like many of you, in absolute awe of the events gripping our world. I'm amazed by the speed at which the world is shutting down, and locking down its citizens. It is surreal.
I'm not going to get into the debate regarding the severity of the virus. But this response is absolutely unprecedented. The number of "reported" sicknesses and deaths from this virus does not seem to support the overwhelming preventative response by world governments. This would indicate one of two things: either the virus is really bad, like Spanish Flu bad, and they just aren't supporting that fact with real, verified data, or these events serve as cover for some other agenda.
For me, it doesn't really matter. We may be at the doorstep of the Tribulation; literally only weeks away, and here's why.
You went forth for the salvation of Your people, For salvation with Your Anointed.
Habakkuk provides a template for the beginning of the end. The first two chapters describe an exasperated and tired prophet, discouraged by the evil surrounding God's people, led by the wickedness of the greatest, and seemingly invincible, nation on earth. "How long?" the prophet asks. How long will this go on? Lord, when will you intervene?!? Finally we come to the end of the second chapter:
The translation doesn't do this justice. The Hebrew word for "silence" here is really a forceful command to be still and/or be silent! Is it possible this verse is talking about the "lockdown" the world is currently entering? An eery stillness in the world? Or are we about to see several days of darkness, as many have predicted?
Chapter 3 begins with a plea to God: Lord! Please act! Please intervene with your mighty power! But even as you pour out your judgments on this wicked world, remember to be merciful to your penitent ones.
According to the Benson Commentary: "Green renders this verse thus: His brightness was as the brightness of the sun; he had rays of light beaming from his hand; and there was the hiding-place of his power." The irony here is not, as we may think, that his power is revealed by the sun, but that the sun itself is hiding his power. We should understand that the rays of the sun are, in my opinion, hiding some form of judgment as it makes its way from afar, to a close approach of the earth. In many prophetic passages it is undeniable that we see great terrestrial disturbances caused by celestial anomalies. Many tens of thousands of people all over the world have been discussing such celestial anomalies, perceived and real, on social media for at least the last 10 to 15 years.
Is the current coronavirus the pestilence listed here? Time will tell. But notice the pestilence arrived before God. Or said another way, in the timeline of events, the pestilence occurs as a precursor to God "reviving" his great, undeniable works and judgments in the earth.
We are living in unprecedented times. I encourage all people everywhere to repent of their sins and obey the words of Jesus Christ.

NATO and America's 70 Years
Jeremiah 25 and 29 predict a period of time, lasting 70 years, in which the great nation-state referred to as Babylon effectively rules the world by her great might. All nations of the world will serve her.
...and these nations shall serve the king of Babylon seventy years.‘Then it will come to pass, when seventy years are completed, that I will punish the king of Babylon and that nation, the land of the Chaldeans, for their iniquity,’ says the LORD; ‘and I will make it a perpetual desolation.
When we understand that end-time Babylon is America, our next question becomes "when did her 70 year reign begin?" In Quenched Like a Wick I concluded it had begun shortly after World War II. Before Him Went Pestilence

O LORD, revive Your work...In wrath remember mercy
Chapter 3 begins with a plea to God: Lord! Please act! Please intervene with your mighty power! But even as you pour out your judgments on this wicked world, remember to be merciful to your penitent ones.
His brightness was like the light; He had rays flashing from His hand,And there His power was hidden.

Before Him went pestilence, And fever (burning coals) followed at His feet.
