Jeremiah 15:7
And I will winnow them with a winnowing fan in the gates of the land; I will bereave them of children; I will destroy My people, since they do not return from their ways.
There's good reason the title of this blog starts with "Wake Up". The people of America are in some sort of sleep state. It's kinda surreal and also eerie to observe this. I liken it to the stories we've heard about the Titanic sinking into the ocean. The band just kept on playing. We watch the movie and everyone says "I can't believe how they are acting. Are they crazy?!?" But here we are, a little more than 5 years away from the complete and utter destruction of the great mother of harlots: America. ...and people just go about their lives like nothing is happening. The band keeps playing.
And the people of God in America are no different. If only his people would start reading their Bibles. They might see things differently. They might begin to see, period.(Isaiah 6:9) Maybe spiritual sight would return. Do God's people really know him? He says we don't. (Jeremiah 4:22, Hosea 5:4) "Oh, that's not talking about us. That's about ancient Israel." Well, you can certainly believe that if you want to. But Jeremiah was commissioned to speak to both the people of his generation and the people of the last generation...our day. "Oh, but we have churches on every corner. Many of us attend church and read our Bibles." Mmm,hmmm. That's exactly what Isaiah 58:2 says about us too...only it's all pretense. It's all a show. I like the New Living translation of that verse: "Yet they act so pious! They come to the Temple every day and seem delighted to learn about me..." "Oh, but this can't be talking about the church in America. This is the Old Testament..." Keep on seeing but don't perceive... Isaiah 6:9
It's amazing the things you find out when you read the Bible...God's message to mankind. "Oh, but I'm so busy, I have work and kids and school and...and I can't miss my favorite shows...and then there's soccer practice and bath time and choir practice and of course we attend church every Sunday...that's where I get my Bible teaching. The pastor is just so nice and I love how he talks about grace and the goodness of God. And the mother's day service was so nice...and the kids loved the Easter egg hunt. The choir is so lovely singing praises." Wow, I'm getting nauseous just thinking about how things are today. Kinda like drinking lukewarm water...makes me want to vomit.(Revelation 3:15)
Who do you think James is talking about in chapter 5?: "Come now, you rich, weep and howl for your miseries that are coming upon you!...You have lived on the earth in pleasure and luxury; you have fattened your hearts as in a day of slaughter." This can't possibly be related to Babylon in Revelation 18, can it? "...and have become rich through the abundance of her luxury." It absolutely is related! Look at James 5:3 "...You have heaped up treasure in the last days." And I might add that many of you can't even put your car in your garage because it's overflowing with all your treasures. All the while the cause of the poor and downtrodden (those whom Yeshua came to give hope, through OUR hands), goes forgotten and neglected. Oh, but we can't miss the concert when our church brings in the big-name singer.
"Oh, but we know him. We know all about God." (Hosea 8:2) Oh, really? Jeremiah 9:24 says "But let him who glories glory in this: that he understands and knows me, that I am the Lord, exercising lovingkindess, judgment, and righteousness in the earth. For in these I delight," says the Lord." Well, the people of God know about that first one: lovingkindness. But that's about it. And how can we not know about it...it's all the pastors want to talk about lest they lose their precious congregation to the church up the street who also is only patting the sheep on the back, telling them how lovely they all are. It was one of the last messages I heard: "God is pleased with you! The angels love to see us all assembled here in one place so they can gaze upon us"...or some such nonsense. But it wasn't qualified: God is pleased with you IF... IF you are doing those things that he says are important to him. IF you are living a clean life before him. IF you are obeying him. Obedience is better than sacrifice. "For I desire mercy and not sacrifice, and the knowledge of God more than burnt offerings." (Hosea 6:6)
"Oh, but God would never take away his lovingkindness!" Oh, really? Let's take a look at the very next chapter.
Jeremiah 16:5
For thus says the LORD: "Do not enter the house of mourning, nor go to lament or bemoan them; for I have taken away My peace from this people," says the LORD, "lovingkindness and mercies.
"Oh, but this is the Old Testament...we're under a new deal now." Oh, really? OK, here you go:
Romans 11:22
Therefore consider the goodness and severity of God: on those who fell, severity; but toward you, goodness, if you continue in [His] goodness. Otherwise you also will be cut off.
Do you really know him? Do you know that he's coming to destroy his people? "Oh, God wouldn't do that. We're not appointed for wrath. We're going to be RAPTURED!!! before all the trouble starts." Yeah, he knew people would believe that lie that the false prophets are teaching today. Did you ever consider that maybe he meant something else when he said "wrath"? That maybe he meant eternal damnation?
Jeremiah 15:7
And I will winnow them with a winnowing fan in the gates of the land; I will bereave them of children; I will destroy My people, since they do not return from their ways.
Even if this were talking about just ancient Israel, which it's not, God doesn't change. Many people think Yeshua arrived and now everything is peaches and cream; we all get off scotfree as long as we accept the work Yeshua did for us on the tree. Did you know that to correctly understand the New Testament our understanding has to agree with Old Testament, and vice-versa? God doesn't change. And when the Old OR New Testament speaks of the "last days" our ears should perk up and our hair should stand on end...and every pastor today should have Jeremiah 23 and Malachi 2:9 memorized. Why? Because it's talking about us! About what's shortly going to occur! But the band just keeps playing...
So what is Jeremiah talking about? What's the winnowing fan? It's the wilderness experience that this generation will experience. Those whom God spares from the destruction of America ("she who borne seven" Jer. 15:9, she who sits on seven mountains - Revelation 17:9...mother of harlots)...those of God's people whom he spares from certain death will be brought out into the wilderness. And there he will contend with us. (Ezekiel 20:36-38, Micah 6:2) And the gates? Why does it say gates? A gate is an entrance. The entrance for the people of God, both ancient Israel and God's people of today, is the same place. Ancient Israel crossed over the Jordan, just north of the Dead Sea. And that is the exact same spot that we will end up when America meets her demise. That location, just east of the Jordan River, north-east of the Dead Sea, is the gate. Those who persist in unfaithfulness will not cross over the river into the promised land. (Ezekiel 15:7-8) But those who are faithful will be allowed to enter the through the gates as Isaiah 26:2 states: Open the gates, That the righteous nation which keeps the truth may enter in.
And just as Moses, the first shepherd of Israel, was not allowed to enter the promised land because he dishonored God, so it will be in our day. The priests and prophets today who dishonor God by misleading his people with a false message of "peace" will not even make it out of America alive. (Jeremiah 23..in the last days you will understand it perfectly. Ezekiel 13, Isaiah 28 and many other texts). "Strike the shepherd and the sheep will be scattered. Then I will turn My hand against the little ones." Zechariah 13:7 Keep reading Zechariah 13 to see how many betray God (Jeremiah 17) and how many will end up crossing over the Jordan. Hint: only one-third of those who escape the first fire will also escape the second fire. Joshua, in Zachariah 3, is a type of God's people who were just rescued from nuclear holocaust in America! Look at how he's described...filthy, wearing rags...like a firebrand just plucked from the fire.
So what's the point of this post? I can't say it any plainer. Wake up now, people, while there is still time. As James says, weep and howl. Repent of your complacency. God pleads with us today: "Learn to do good..." Isaiah 1:17.
